Hacienda raises fuel tax relief for the new week
For September 26–October 2, the IEPS relief rises to 72% for regular gasoline and 72.1% for premium. Diesel receives 100% relief for a third week.
Context
The previous week’s relief was 63% for regular gasoline and 59.1% for premium. Hacienda publishes the fuel-tax adjustments each Friday. The statutory IEPS charge on gasoline is lower this week, while the diesel charge remains zero. The measure alone does not determine the final pump price.

September 24: The next round of US trade talks is delayed
Mexico News Daily reports that the fourth round of US trade talks has been postponed. October is possible, but a new date is not confirmed.
Context
Mexico is seeking tariff relief for steel, aluminum and vehicles. The reported change is to the timetable, not the tariffs.

September 24: Banxico leaves the policy benchmark at 6.50%
The board voted unanimously to hold the rate on September 24. Future decisions will consider inflation, the exchange rate and economic slack.
Context
Banxico also held at 6.50% in June and August. In its September statement, the bank said Mexican monetary policy does not have to follow US rate decisions.

September 24: July’s activity reading beats the earlier estimate
INEGI reported growth of 0.8% from June and 3.3% from a year earlier, seasonally adjusted. The monthly reading exceeds the earlier July estimate of 0.6%.
Context
The difference is 0.2 percentage points. Both figures describe July; comparing them does not show how activity changed in August or September.
