Mota Engil consortium wins Querétaro-San Miguel rail contract, El Economista reports
Mexico's rail and public transport agency, ATTRAPI, awarded the consortium MXN 22,407.7 million to design and build the 68-km section between Querétaro and San Miguel de Allende, according to El Economista.
Context
Postor lists the award date as October 2. The contract covers only the Querétaro-San Miguel de Allende section of the longer Querétaro-Saltillo passenger line. The report names the contractor for viaducts, tunnels and station work. This gives construction suppliers a specific project to assess, though the award itself does not confirm that construction has started.

IMSS will require bank deposits for certain temporary disability benefits from October 6
A bank deposit will be required for payments of at least MXN 2,835.36 for illness not related to work, MXN 5,040.64 for work-related injury or illness, and MXN 31,188.96 for maternity.
Context
The agreement was published in the DOF, Mexico's official gazette, on October 5, 2026. It changes how benefits are paid. Amounts, eligibility rules and other benefit conditions stay the same. HR teams can help workers prepare their bank-account details for payments that require a bank deposit. For payments below these amounts, registering an account is still optional.

Hacienda cuts gasoline tax relief and diesel's extra subsidy for October 3-9
The IEPS fuel-tax discount is 63.34% for regular gasoline and 63.19% for Premium. Diesel still gets 100.00% relief from that tax, but its separate subsidy falls to MXN 0.6033 per litre.
Context
For September 26-October 2, the discounts were 72.09% for regular gasoline and 72.11% for Premium. Diesel's separate subsidy was MXN 1.1896 per litre, according to Hacienda's previous notice. For transport operators, lower tax support means less help with fuel costs. It does not mean prices at the pump will rise by the same amount.
